Stopped in here on the way to and from Ottawa. The lunch specials are killer! The soup changes daily. The sandwiches are excellent. The staff are friendly and the food comes fast. Lots of seating inside so you won't have to worry about waiting for a table.

Good food, but greetings at the door can be improved!We didn't know this place and stopped by because we saw many cars parked in the front (which is a good sign when you are a stranger in town!).When we arrived, had the same experience as many of one-star reviewers! We felt that we are not really welcomed as I had to call the waitresses who were chatting one meter away from us to offer us a seat!!! But when they finally furnished us with their attention, then, things started to improve!!!Our hostess was nice and friendly, we got our food as ordered and timely. The meals were delicious and portions were generous.Coffee and apple pie was excellent and at the end, the bill was correct (food items are reasonably priced too). One other interesting thing: There are many beautiful paintings on the wall for sale. I have to add that the restaurant was tidy and washrooms were clean. In general we were happy with our experience there, and will go again if we pass by in future.

Stopped off for lunch. The first time I have dropped in considering I have been driving past the place for the last twenty years. Had a delightful experience. I ordered my favourite liver & onions and my associate fish and chips. What came to our table was extremely enjoyable and priced very reasonable. And a very clean operation. I recommend this place

Great food with large portions and very reasonable prices.

Great ice cream and friendly service.

They have Kawartha Dairy ice cream and it's so good! The price is pretty good for how much you get. A small consists of 2 HUGE scoops and you can mix flavours. Took me two days to finish - less than 3$ too. First time coming here - friends and I came back the next day. Their food is pretty decent too (:

This is the best place to stop at for a bite to eat while on the road. I have never been disappointed with there service. The staff are really nice and do care about there customers. I totally recommend this place for anyone, especially families. You will definitely be seeing me visit this place again in the near future.

Well priced, super tasty breakfast. Slow service when it's busy

We were a large group and a reservation was booked in advance for breakfast. Their staff were pleasant and very attentive even though they had plenty of other tables to serve. We started with drinks coffee, tea, juice, milk, water...and were given the time for our party to arrive to make our orders. This restaurant staff were well organize and were able to serve us allin a timely manner and we were able to get multiple bills. The restaurant was clean as well as the washrooms and this place has a has a large parking lot. I would highly recommend this place to others.

I dropped in with a crew of 14 hungry men and the waitress quickly and capably served us all without a blink of an eye. The food was fresh typical breakfast fare. The bacon was thick and lean and the sausages were yummy. I found the hash browns so so since they were simply frozen deep fried McCain's style. Coffee was excellent and the efficient friendly staff were quick to refill. Good breakfast.

I read some reviews and thought ok, I'll give it a try. I drove 45 minutes, came for the first time ever in January, ordered fish and chips...MASSIVE portions, OMG. The fish is HUGE. Biggest portions I've EVER seen, and only $12 for 2 piece fish n chips. All these reviews where people say the portions are big, that's definitely true. Today, I ordered burger and fries, was delicious and filling. As I sit here looking around the restaurant, the portions are large, people are happy, the place is clean (the waitress said it was recently renovated). Both times I came on Friday afternoons around 1pm, place is packed, can definitely tell it is many peoples favourite spot. Parking lot is massive, so no worries there. I will be a returning customer for many years, love the busy atmosphere... will pass on my positive recommendation to others.

Very friendly and get lots of ice cream for a great price

Bad restaurant experience! I ordered a Caesar salad with chicken. I was told the salad dressing was Rene’s mighty Caesar (Because I’m GF). but it was tasteless & was nothing like Rene’s. It possibly was watered down. The chicken was the pressed ‘fake’ kind. I left 95% of my meal & wasn’t asked how it was, service was unacceptable as well. I will not return to this restaurant or recommend it.

Very good home-style food with lots of character. The service was a little slow but the food was hot and fresh.

Had the Eggs Benedict, delicious and filling. My husband had the hungry manservant breakfast and he was full. Oh and a nice touch they had sugar free syrup.

Great food, friendly staff

Good family dining place. I was traveling and happened to arrive 25 minutes before closing. Asked if there were restrictions on what I could order and was told no. I had a delicious pork chop dinner in a welcoming atmosphere!

Friendly server, generous ice cream portions for a very reasonable price. You won't regret stopping in for ice cream... ever!!

So this is by far NOT the best restaurant around. Besides the slow service and smart as staff the the food is mediocre. But we did get to clean our own table and the waitress made it seem like we should be happy that that was free of charge!

A local favorite as we always see a lot of cars there. The staff is always friendly. The food is decent. Lots of choices. Unfortunately the last meal was sub par. All the others had been good. I had the veggie lasagna and a Greek salad. The lasagna was definitely veggie, (I should have gone with the regular one). The salad had a below par dressing. Note: I grew up in Greek town in Toronto and I was married to an Italian, so I know what really authentic stuff tastes like.

Very cheap food is meh some is not good at all. The ice cream is apparently very good and huge servings. Well loved place by locals. Often stop by on drives through mostly for the prices.

Good value for money, a hidden gem.

These people do not skimp on the ice cream cones! Kwartha icecream too. $2.50 for the biggest scoop ever. Amazing taste. Bring cash because ice cream is cash only. Have I mentioned that their toasted western sammy is soooooo good.

We were given wrong takeout order. (No names or receipts on packages). Hot replacement ready when I got there. Staff couldn’t have been more apologetic. Full marks for service. Food was good but several elements felt frozen. Good size portions.

Simple restaurant. Great food, good value. You won’t leave hungry. Top marks for food, EXCEPT, during this Covid season, NO servers wearing face masks, and barely half the patrons entering had masks on. It’s a very loud indicator of how the establishment doesn’t appear to have any regard for public safety. Makes me now wonder about the food...4 stars now rated 1.

Service was good although there was an issue with seating at first. Eventually the staff worked to accommodate us. Food was very good, although it was a quite a bit of a wait, but well worth it. Staff was kind and attentive and you could tell it was a favorite place to eat for nearby towns due to how very busy they were on a Wednesday evening. I will for sure return when I'm back in the area, thank you

You will never find a better restaurant. The staff are friendly, the prices are reasonable and the food fantastic. I drive 100km out of my way just to visit this place once a month.

Absolutely massive servings and the largest (in terms of bulk) patrons I have ever seen in one place at one time before. It’s worth visiting to witness this freaky scene (the action starts at 5.30pm). A single set dinner fed three of us. The food was very tasty, prices reasonable and the service friendly.

We stopped in this restaurant on the way home from diving in crowe river. It was so hot out we decided ice cream wss needed to make the drive more bearable. They have Kawartha dairy ice cream. The portions are amazing for the price. If your in the area and looking for some great ice cream stop in.

We go to the Ranch often. We especially enjoy their Thur rib special and Friday fish special. Good prices

Very good breakfast while still quite reasonably priced. I ordered the ranchers special ( 2 eggs however you like them with your choice of meat, dollar fries and toast.) it was quite delicious and the staff was friendly and very quick to get you what you need or refill your coffee.
